What Is an Excavator Grapple Saw?
An excavator grapple saw is a hydraulic forestry attachment that combines a powerful gripping grapple with a built-in chainsaw cutting unit. Mounted on an excavator, it allows the operator to grab, hold, cut, and move trees, branches, and logs in a single working cycle — without changing attachments or leaving the cab.

HL-A8 Excavator Grapple Saw Features
- Integrated Grapple and Chainsaw Design
The grapple and saw are integrated into one unit. The operator clamps the tree with the grapple, then activates the hydraulic chainsaw to cut through the trunk — all from the excavator cab. No tool changes, no ground crews with chainsaws, one machine does the whole job.
- Full 360° Continuous Rotation
The HONTOP rotating grapple saw turns a full 360 degrees continuously, so the operator can reposition logs, feed wood, and load trucks without repositioning the excavator. Rotation speed and direction are controlled electrically from the cab.
- Stable Gripping and Durable Structure
A wide clamshell-style grapple body, reinforced steel construction, and a purpose-built hydraulic circuit keep the load stable during cutting and swinging. Hardened grapple teeth (800mm) bite into trunks up to 500mm in diameter, and the saw unit holds up under continuous commercial use.
